Main research interests

  • My main research interests include the interrelationship between cannabinoids and sexual hormones that underscore two significant public health issues arising from changing legislation regarding cannabis: therapeutic potential and abuse liability.
  • An additional interest is the study of emerging signaling pathways and molecular candidates regulating uterine preparation for pregnancy, with particular focus on lipid mediators, such as endocannabinoids and lipoxins.
  • In addition to infertility, I also have broad general research interests in the characterization of novel psychoactive substances such as synthetic cannabinoids in reproduction and in the use of cannabinoids as therapy for cancer and inflammation.

Degrees

  • PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Faculdade de Farmácia da Universidade do Porto (2010)
  • Graduation in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Faculdade de Farmácia da Universidade do Porto (2006)
